On August 23, 2025, the 5th International Conference on Intelligent Traffic Systems and Smart City (ITSSC 2025), jointly organized by Chongqing Jiaotong University and Chongqing University, was successfully held at the Nan'an Campus of Chongqing Jiaotong University.

The conference brought together well-known experts and scholars from both domestic and international communities in the fields of intelligent traffic systems and smart city. They engaged in in-depth discussions and exchanges focusing on the latest research achievements and technological developments, further promoting close interaction between academia and industry.

Prof. Zhaowei Chen

At the beginning of the conference, Prof. Zhaowei Chen, Deputy Director of the Science and Technology Department of Chongqing Jiaotong University, delivered the opening remarks, extending sincere greetings to both online and offline participants. He stated that the rapid development of intelligent traffic systems and smart cities is driving innovation in related disciplines as well as the transformation and upgrading of industries. This conference provides a valuable opportunity to build a high-level platform for multidisciplinary integration and collaboration among academia, industry, and research. He expressed his hope that attendees would take advantage of this event to engage in in-depth academic exchanges, inspire innovative ideas, and promote the transformation of scientific research achievements into practical applications.

Prof. Zhigang Chu

Subsequently, Prof. Zhigang Chu, Dean of the School of Mechanical and Transportation Engineering at Chongqing University, delivered a speech to welcome and thank the attending experts and scholars. He emphasized that the ITSSC conference serves not only as a platform for showcasing academic achievements but also as an important vehicle for advancing the deep integration of cutting-edge theories and engineering practices. He expressed his expectations that the conference would foster the growth of young researchers, contribute to the development of future-oriented intelligent traffic and smart city systems, and help maintain China's technological leadership in the global intelligent traffic field.

This conference has invited numerous renowned experts and scholars to deliver keynote speeches, includingProf. Petros Ioannou from the University of Southern California (IEEE Fellow, Member of the U.S. National Academy of Engineering, Foreign Member of the European Academy of Sciences),Prof. Xin Li from Dalian Maritime University (National Young Talent),Prof. Xiaolin Tang from Chongqing University (National Young Talent), andProf. Yongfu Li from Chongqing University of Posts and Telecommunications (National Young Talent). 

These four experts conducted in-depth academic presentations and exchanges focusing on key scientific issues in the fields of intelligent transportation systems and smart cities.

The conference featured two parallel sessions and received over 40 poster submissions and 30 oral presentations from young scholars. The topics covered multiple cutting-edge fields, including intelligent transportation systems, smart city development, information security, the Internet of Things, and big data. Awards were given for two Best Paper Awards, two Best Poster Presentation Awards, and three Best Oral Presentation Awards, fully showcasing the leading research achievements and innovations in the field.

The successful convening of ITSSC 2025 marks the continuous maturation of the academic exchange platform in the fields of intelligent transportation and smart cities, providing a solid bridge for promoting the industrialization of research achievements.

The conference not only strengthened collaborative cooperation between domestic and international experts but also offered new ideas and mechanisms to advance interdisciplinary integration in related disciplines. Moving forward, the organizers will continue to deepen their cooperation, driving intelligent transportation systems and smart city development to higher levels, thereby contributing to the construction of a safe, efficient, and green transportation environment and a smart society.
